A MOTHER'S REFUSAL

For all the disappeared, 14 took to the streets
They protested in silence, facing pigs on the beat
Went at it in solo, Mothers of Plaza de Mayo
Their silence spoke louder than the state of the art speakers
All of these mothers made the lies all the weaker
Fought off the barrels of these 9 millimeters
But they said "NO!", the hell with state lies
Reveal the grave in which my son and daughter lies
Let the world cry, I want you to shed a tear
For all the meaningless death that occurred for those years
Argentina, Buenos Airies, military is shaken
Mothers took back their lives in 1977
Again it can't happen, again it can't happen
This ain't the world where we want to raise our children
Again it can't happen, again it can't happen
When ditches are filled with the body parts of children
For 8 years, streets are lined with blood and tears
Of the heartbroken mothers, as a mourner for career
Let it capture, the pain and the memories of torture
When squads slit fathers in front of they daughters

Chorus:
Shed a tear for the thousands that disappeared
Remember why so many lived and suffered in fear
Shed a tear for the truth that remains unseen
Shed a tear for all their suffocated dreams
All they want is justice for those they love
You can push and shove but the truth will come above
Shed a tear until lies start to unravel
Shed a tear for the power of a mother's refusal

No one was free, bullet holes littered the trees
Pulling the seams, fastball beaning the dreams
Democracy then viewed impossible it seemed
Masses worked together dared to challenge the fiends
These mothers pushed the limits of resistance
Everybody saw thus resisted with a vengeance
Still they seek justice, today it hasn't ended
No rest for madres 'till the killers have repented
They dragged away pregnant women
Cut wombs, creating wounds and ...
Entire families, subject to pain in dark rooms and ...
In front of each other, kids raped in front of mothers
Eyes gouged out with a pair of rusty pliars
June '76, blackout, shoveled in trucks
Student, workers and everybody who ran a muck
None saved, war waged on people stuck within cage
Soldiers in the army also found their path to mass graves

The government, they took them for nothing
Ignored these women wit' it they took advantage
The leverage, soon shifted away from the pistol
To the silence and signs that dared to settle battles
Peaceful resistance made up the battle plan
Sized up any man, defeated so they ran
The time they ignored, built up internal structure
The subject of laughter, now the mass moral movers
Amnesty International watched ...
They raised mass awareness and they couldn't be cut
Too late, they influenced Washington decisions
Human rights and funding no longer in divisions
Yo listen, they're not the main causal factor
They signified the end for the military junta
They risked their lives in the face of terror
An era of torture, guns faced, overpowered

Again it can't happen, again it can't happen
Again it can't happen, again it can't happen
