This is of great importance especially
in light of what is happening between the Muslim community in
Canada and the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS). I ask my fellow
Muslims to reflect extra long and hard about this -- specifically,
how some of our "leaders" have chosen to deal with this matter. May
Allah (swt) reward her for being so strong in her intellect and in
her ability to dissect the matter. Not to mention summoning the
courage to hold our leaders accountable for their actions or lack
thereof. An act that can easily get you isolated. It is absolutely
sad that more non-Muslims are passionate about the issue of CSIS
infiltration in the Muslim community as opposed to some Muslims who think
the matter is of little importance. Even when it has reached to the
"mainstream" level in Canada as well. We need to do our best to
change this and develop a countercurrent, insha'Allah. I could not
have said it better than she did. A big thanks to all of our leaders
who do speak out and manage to think rationally about this issue in
the manner that this sister has displayed.
If you're too lazy to read, just take this paragraph in:
"Rather than critically question the media's premise of
radicalization, Muslim organizations and their leaders jumped on the
bandwagon and now seek to put an end to "Muslim youth
radicalization," whatever that means. But seriously, what does that
mean? House Resolution 1955 defined violent radicalization as "the
process of adopting or promoting an extremist belief system for the
purpose of facilitating ideologically based violence to advance
political, religious, or social change." In other words, the
(unexplained notion of) adopting or promoting an (undefined)
extremist belief, which could potentially facilitate (in unclear
terms) ideologically based violence is violent radicalization. Now
if that doesn't clarify radicalization, I don't know what does.
According to my reading, this definition of radicalization could
encompass everything from violent acts to civil disobedience to even
voicing an unpopular stance."
